When you create a new presentation, the first slide displays two areas containing dashed borders for entering text. These areas are called placeholders.
Every time you add another slide to your presentation, the program displays a dialog box in which you can select the desired slide layout. These layouts differ in the type, number and arrangement of the placeholders used.
The following types of placeholders are available in Presentations' slide layouts:
▪Title placeholders
| Title placeholders are used to enter a title for the slide. They can be filled with text only. Most slide layouts contain a title placeholder at the top of the slide. |
▪Generic placeholders
| Generic placeholders are provided for the actual content of the slide. They can either be filled with text or with an object (table, picture, chart, media object or OLE object). Virtually all slide layouts contain one or more generic placeholders of different sizes and arrangements. |
▪Special placeholders
| Special placeholders are a special case: They are not used in Presentations' slide layouts but are found in older PowerPoint files. Special placeholders can only be filled with one specific object type. There are, for example, picture placeholders (for pictures only), table placeholders (for tables only), etc. |
