In addition to the standard picture formats, it is also possible to insert a PDF file as a picture into the body text. The first page of the PDF is then displayed graphically as a representative of the file.
Inserting such a picture works in exactly the same way as described in the previous section Inserting pictures into the text for all other picture formats. All you have to do is select the desired PDF file from the file folder after choosing the ribbon command Insert | group Objects | Picture.
Note: You should have selected the option Save within document when inserting the picture. This is the only way you can share a document including the inserted PDF with others or access the PDF file if it is no longer available at its original storage location.
If you want to display a different page of the PDF file instead of the first page, right-click on the inserted picture and select Picture: Properties from the context menu. In the following dialog box, you can select Page to display (for PDF files with multiple pages) on the "Picture" tab.
On the same "Picture" tab, you can also select the Export button if you want to export the PDF file that was saved within the document.
