SmartChat

This feature is only included in SoftMaker Office NX Universal. It is not available in the Android or iOS version.

The ribbon command Review | SmartChat allows you to create AI-based pictures. PlanMaker uses the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI), which tries to understand a human instruction in order to generate a meaningful human-like result.

Note: The processing is performed by the online service ChatGPT rather than performed locally on your computer. You must thus be connected to the Internet to use this feature.

Choose the ribbon command Review | group AI | SmartChat chatgpt_icon and select from among the available uses of the AI in the menu that appears:

Create picture with AI

You can use this command to create an AI-generated picture by telling the AI your description of the desired picture, for example, "Create a picture of the Eiffel Tower with fireworks". This picture will then be automatically added to the SoftMaker AI gallery.

Enter your description for the picture to be created in the dialog box that opens. With the Create picture button, the picture will be created by the AI – after you have selected the desired format from the menu of this button. If you would like to modify the generated picture afterwards, use the Modify button. A dialog box will then appear in which you can enter further descriptions.

The Full screen button can be used to display the completed picture at full screen size. You can use the Forward and Back buttons to access previous or subsequent descriptions and the previously created pictures from the history of the current session.

Insert the final AI picture directly into your current PlanMaker document using the Insert button.

Alternatively, you can choose the command under Insert | group Objects | Picture frame dropdown_arrow, and select the entry From AI in the dropdown menu of the command. Here, you will find another entry From AI gallery, which you can use to insert existing AI pictures created with SoftMaker Office from the SoftMaker AI gallery.

Modify picture

This command opens a dialog box in which you select existing pictures from your computer's folders and describe to the AI how you would like to change the picture.

Example: "Replace all the people in the picture with animals". You can then insert the modified picture into your current PlanMaker document.

The dialog box contains the following buttons:

Select picture from gallery: Opens the SoftMaker AI gallery, which contains all AI pictures created so far with SoftMaker Office.

Browse for pictures: Opens the file browser in which you can search for any pictures available on your computer.

Note: The original picture remains unaffected by the changes you make here using AI. The modified picture is automatically saved in the SoftMaker AI gallery.

After loading the picture you have selected, enter a description in the bottom field of the dialog box of how the picture should be modified. Then click on the Modify picture button.

The Full screen button can be used to display the completed picture at full screen size. You can use the Forward and Back buttons to access previous or subsequent descriptions and the previously created pictures from the history of the current session.

If you are satisfied with the result, insert the modified picture into your current PlanMaker document using the Insert button.

Modifying selected picture

Existing pictures in your PlanMaker document can be modified using the AI by selecting the picture and describing to the AI how you would like to change it.

Example: "Replace all the people in the picture with animals". This picture will then be automatically added to the SoftMaker AI gallery.

To do so, select the desired picture in your PlanMaker document and choose the ribbon command Review | SmartChat > Modify selected picture. In the following dialog box, enter a description of how the picture should be modified. Then click on the Modify picture button.

The Full screen button can be used to display the completed picture at full screen size. You can use the Forward and Back buttons to access previous or subsequent descriptions and the previously created pictures from the history of the current session.

If you are satisfied with the result, you can use the Replace button to replace the existing picture in the document with the modified AI picture.

Alternatively, you will find the command in the context menu by right-clicking on the picture or on the contextual ribbon tab Picture with the command Modify selection with AI.

Changing the properties of AI pictures

An inserted AI picture is actually nothing more than a picture frame. To change the properties, right-click on the object and select Picture: Properties in the context menu.

The options of the dialog box (or on the contextual ribbon tab Picture) correspond to a large extent to the properties of picture frames as described in the Pictures section.
