In this section, you will learn how to customize the appearance of the document on the screen. Most of the required commands can be found on the ribbon tab View.
The ribbon tab View contains the following commands for displaying the screen:

Function |
Slides |
This command switches to the slide view. This is the view that you normally use when working with Presentations. You can use this command to return to the normal slide view from another view at any time. |
Slide sorter |
This command switches to the Slide sorter view. It displays small thumbnails of all slides. For more information, see Using the slide sorter and outline. |
Outline |
This command switches to the Outline view. This only shows the text in the slides; all graphic elements are hidden. For more information, see Using the slide sorter and outline. |
Notes |
This command switches to the Notes view. For more information, see Adding notes. |
Group Master |
Here, you can switch to one of the different "master views". You can edit the masters for slide layouts, notes and handouts in these views. For more information, see Working with masters. |
Group View |
Here, you can enable various display elements – for example, the display of rulers (see Settings, View tab) – or change the settings for grids and guides (see Using the grid / Using guides). |
Group Zoom |
You can use these commands to specify the zoom level at which the slides are displayed. For more information, see Zoom level. |
Mini sorter |
The mini sorter is a narrow strip at the edge of the document window with small thumbnails of all slides. (For more information, see Working with the mini sorter.) Here, you can select where you want the mini sorter to be displayed in the document window or you can hide it completely. |
Mini outliner |
This is similar to the mini sorter, but instead of small thumbnails, the mini outliner shows an outline view of the text in the slides. (For more information, see Working with the mini outliner.) Select here whether and where the mini outliner should be displayed. |
Notes area |
In the notes area, you can enter your comments directly in the normal slide view (see Adding notes). By default, it is located at the bottom of the document window. Here, select whether and where you want the notes area to be displayed. |
Sidebar |
Here, you can enable/disable the sidebar. The sidebar allows extra quick access to numerous slide formatting options. For more information, see Using the sidebar. |
Full screen |
This command allows you to switch to full screen view, where the program uses the entire screen to display the document. For more information, see Full screen view. |
Windows |
With this command, you can place documents side by side, close all documents or select from the list of all currently open documents. For more information, see Working with multiple documents. |
